The University of Southern Mississippi celebrated Founders' Day 2015 on the Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses with the awarding of service pins, recognition of academic achievement among students and the instillation of SGA officers.
After making its three-week voyage from San Jose, Calif., through the Panama Canal and into the Gulf of Mexico, the University's newest research vessel, the Point Sur, has made its way to its new home at the Port of Gulfport.
WUSM-FM, 88.5 Southern Miss Radio, will host its 5th annual golf tournament, A Round for Roots Radio, on Monday, April 27, at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg. 
The Lady Eagles' 2014-15 season came to an end yesterday. Despite another spirited attempt at a second-half comeback, USM succumbed to Michigan 69-60 in the Elite 8 of the Women's NIT.
James McMahon threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings and Drew Burdeaux had three hits with two runs driven in Sunday afternoon as USM defeated No. 14 Rice, 5-1.
Southern Miss jumped out to an early lead, but UTEP responded to claim a 10-4 victory over the Golden Eagles in the series finale in El Paso, Texas.
