Southern Miss has added a valuable resource to its exploration and research efforts beneath the Gulf waters with the purchase of the "Point Sur" vessel from the San Jose University Research Foundation.
Dr. Lisa Stapleton, assistant professor in the Higher Education Student Affairs program at Southern Miss, has been selected as the winner of the Melvene D. Hardee Dissertation of the Year Award.

James McMahon tossed a complete-game, six-hit shutout to lead USM to a 5-0 victory over Troy Sunday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field to win the series on the road.
