Make an Award Nomination
The University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association continually accepts nominations for the honors and service positions it awards on an annual basis. You may use the form below to nominate a Southern Miss alum for 1) the Alumni Hall of Fame, 2) service on the International Board of Directors, or 3) one of the several awards presented at Homecoming. You may also submit a nomination by fax to 601.266.4218 or mail to the Southern Miss Alumni Association, 118 College Drive #5013, Hattiesburg, MS 39406.
While nominations are accepted year round, submissions must be received by May 30 each year for the approaching Homecoming ceremonies in the fall. Typically, the nominations and award selection committees meet in July to select the Alumni Hall of Fame inductees, service award winners, and the slate of officers and board nominees to be recognized and considered for election at Homecoming.
Once nominated, an individual's nomination remains in active consideration for five years. An individual is not notified of his / her nomination by the Alumni Association until a selection has been made nor does the Alumni Association respond individually to nominators regarding the status of a nomination. The list of Alumni Hall of Fame inductees, service award winners, and the slate of officers and board nominees is published annually in the fall issue of the Southern Miss Connections newsletter.
Any questions regarding a specific nomination or the nomination and selection process should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Hall of Fame
The University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Hall of Fame was established to recognize those whose contributions of time and financial means have helped move Southern Miss forward. Areas for consideration include service to the University, membership and service to the Alumni Association, community activities, and business or professional activities. The nominee must have graduated 15 years previously. Graduates and former students will be considered both living and deceased. A ceremony is held each fall on the Friday evening of Homecoming.
Alumni Association Board of Directors
Each year at Homecoming, the Association elects a President, President Elect, Vice President, Finance Committee Chair, and seven directors. The directors are elected for three-year terms that begin at the start of the fiscal year (July 1) following the Homecoming at which they were elected. The Board of Directors, composed of twenty-seven alumni, including six ex-officio positions, is the governing body for the Southern Miss Alumni Association.
