We are delighted to share with you that the Campaign for the Restoration & Expansion of the Ogletree House has officially resumed following a four-month postponement due to Hurricane Katrina. The goal of this campaign is to generate $3 million in private funding to restore the existing Ogletree House and expand the facility to more than 12,000 square feet to serve the Southern Miss Alumni Association well into the future.
This undertaking is an ambitious one as we plan to use only privately generated funds for this construction. Nevertheless, it is a project that needs to be done, that should be done and that will be done. The building is a symbol of all that is good about Southern Miss: her history, her legacy, her alumni and her bright future.
This groundbreaking initiative will not only return the home of the Alumni Association to the stature it held when it was built in 1911 as the institution’s president’s home, it will also expand the facility to be more functional than ever. In addition, it will ensure that the building will always be worthy of its namesake, the late Powell G. Ogletree, who served so admirably as our alumni director for 34 years.
There is simply no doubt, the completion of this project will forever change our Alumni Association making it even more effective. We need the help of all of our alumni and friends, especially those with a special connection to Southern Miss, to participate in this project to ensure our surpassing this $3 million mark. All gifts are fully tax deductible, and you will make your gift knowing that you are contributing to a permanent legacy of excellence at Southern Miss.
We believe you will agree that this is a worthwhile endeavor and hope you will make a thoughtful decision about your role in the success of this campaign.
Southern Miss to the Top!
